Heritage and Bayside are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Panthers will host the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Heritage is looking for their season's first victory.
On Friday, Heritage came up short against Space Coast and fell 7-3.
Heritage got a good showing from Patrick Johnson, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Heritage saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raimani Massie, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Jose Velez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Bayside hadn't done well against Sebastian River recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears' pitchers stepped up to hand the Sharks a 6-0 shutout. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Riley Ramroop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Ramroop was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Justin Soto, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Bayside's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Heritage beat Bayside 6-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
