Soccer Game Preview: Smiths Station vs. Auburn

Smiths Station hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Smiths Station's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Opelika as they made off with a 10-0 win. It was an even better day for Haley Ciccarello as she scored five goals for her team.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Auburn made sure to put some goals up on the board against Central on Thursday. They blew past the Red Devils 11-1. Given Auburn's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while Central are ranked 80th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Smiths Station has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 85 goals over those 17 contests. As for Auburn, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3-1.
