Basketball Game Preview: Providence Academy Lions vs. Westwood Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Providence Academy Lions challenge the Westwood Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Providence Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Fairhill on Tuesday as Providence Academy made off with a 66-40 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Lions have posted since January 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, Westwood hadn't done well against Waxahachie Prep recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Westwood strolled past Waxahachie Prep with points to spare, taking the game 76-61. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 54.5 points per game.

Westwood's win came from a few key players Providence Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Pierre Tissot, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Westwood's points. Ari Piller was another key player, going 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds.

Westwood was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Providence Academy's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Westwood, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
