Softball Recap: Emmaus Picks Up 21st Straight Win at Home

Emmaus waltzed into their match on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Pleasant Valley Bears by a score of 6-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Mari Eiswerth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Sadie Haefeli was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Avery DeFanti, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Emmaus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive contests.

Emmaus' win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for Pleasant Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Emmaus will face off against Nazareth Area at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hornets 2.3, the Blue Eagles 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pleasant Valley, they will square off against Wallenpaupack Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
