            Baseball Recap: Auburndale Apaches vs. Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers        
        
		
        
        
            Auburndale had lost three straight on the road, but  on Saturday they dropped their record down to 9-3 to make it four. They lost  17-6 to the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  6-2  on Saturday.
As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, the  victory was  the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won nine matchups by six  runs or more  so far this season.
For Wittenberg-Birnamwood's part,  Zandyr Barke made a big impact no matter where he played. He  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. Barke has been consistent: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate,  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances with two  stolen bases and three  runs. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in April.
 In other batting news,  Milo Salvesen and  Chris Sippl did most of the damage at the plate:  Salvesen  went a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs and two  RBI, while  Sippl  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI. Those  two  hits gave  Sippl a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Carson Meverden, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI and one  run.
 Looking ahead, Auburndale will challenge Edgar at 4:45  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, they are taking a road trip to  square off against Bonduel  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1  runs per game  this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
