Softball Recap: Hononegah Victorious

Hononegah won the last time they faced Belvidere North and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Indians walked away with a 7-4 win over the Blue Thunder. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Zoie Calhoun spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Klikno, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aislyn Palmer, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hononegah's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Belvidere North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Hononegah will venture away from home to face off against Antioch at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sequoits will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Belvidere North, they will be playing at home against Harlem at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
