Softball Game Preview: Julian Eagles vs. Bonsall Legionnaires

The Julian Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Bonsall Legionnaires at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Julian has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Bonsall will arrive with four straight wins.

On Monday, Julian didn't have quite enough to beat Ocean View Christian and fell 18-17. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Avalina Magante-Ortiz stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlee Sparks, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Julian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .465. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ocean View Christian only posted a batting average of .135.

Bonsall played against High Tech SD on Friday and won via forfeit.

Bonsall's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Julian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Julian suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Bonsall when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Julian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
