Preview: Palmerton Blue Bombers vs. Catasauqua Rough Riders
Palmerton is 9-1 against Catasauqua since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Palmerton Blue Bombers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Catasauqua Rough Riders at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully Palmerton is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Catasauqua in Pennsylvania (Palmerton is ranked 301st, while Catasauqua is ranked 613th).
Palmerton pushed their score all the way to 79 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 85-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of Notre Dame-Green Pond. It was the first time this season that Palmerton let down their fans at home.
Catasauqua was handed a 22-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Pen Argyl on Thursday. Catasauqua narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pen Argyl 44-42. The victory was just what Catasauqua needed coming off of a 52-30 defeat in their prior contest.
Palmerton's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Catasauqua, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
Palmerton was able to grind out a solid win over Catasauqua in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 59-49. Does Palmerton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Catasauqua turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
