Softball Recap: Haddam-Killingworth Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Branford, Haddam-Killingworth was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the Morgan Huskies get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Caley Napoletano was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Reilly, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Haddam-Killingworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Haddam-Killingworth's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Haddam-Killingworth and Morgan are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against Old Lyme at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Morgan, they will venture away from home to square off against East Hampton at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bellringers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
