Softball Recap: Fuqua Has No Trouble Against Amelia Academy

Fuqua never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Amelia Academy Patriots with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Falcons have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Marissa Dempsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Rebekah Call was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Kaylie Ledger was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Fuqua always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fuqua's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Amelia Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Fuqua will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tidewater Academy at 3:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Amelia Academy, they will take on Temple Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
