Whitefield Academy lost against Shawnee Mission Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Whitefield Academy Lions took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Whitefield Academy had strong showings from Natalie Jones, who posted 11 points, and Gwyn Obenhaus, who put up nine points. Obenhaus continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Shawnee Mission Christian found their leader in sophomore Sadie Hubbard, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 boards. Sarai Zavala also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Whitefield Academy fell to 5-1. As for Shawnee Mission Christian, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Whitefield Academy has already played their next matchup, a 38-29 victory against St. Joseph D on the 21st. Shawnee Mission Christian has also already played their next contest (against Heritage Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
