Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Moore Catholic's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Moore Catholic put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders. Considering the Mavericks have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

JOE CANCEL looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, MATTHEW DOYLE was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of CHRISTOPHER EUGENE, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Moore Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Monsignor Scanlan, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Coming up, Moore Catholic will host Monsignor Farrell at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monsignor Scanlan, they will venture away from home to face off against Iona Prep at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Gaels will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
