Carbondale posted their closest win since December 28, 2023 on Saturday. They skirted past the Cahokia Comanches 54-51. The victory continues a trend for the Terriers in their matchups with the Comanches: they've now won six in a row.

Cahokia's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cornelius Griffin, who went 5-for-7 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. Griffin is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Corrion Raiford was another key player, going 6-for-8 to rack up 15 points.

Carbondale's win bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Cahokia, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-19.

Looking ahead, Carbondale will head out on the road to square off against Centralia at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Centralia knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Carbondale likes a good challenge. As for Cahokia, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-35 defeat against O'Fallon on the 20th.
