Baseball Game Preview: Pikesville Panthers vs. Sparrows Point Pointers

The Pikesville Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Sparrows Point Pointers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pikesville will be strutting in after a win while Sparrows Point will be coming in after a defeat.

Pikesville was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Western Tech & Environmental Science on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 13-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won eight in a row.

Matthew Wesley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Wesley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Ethan Holaday was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Nate Cherry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Pikesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sparrows Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 13-7 to Hereford.

Pikesville's record is now 2-5. As for Sparrows Point, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Pikesville might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Sparrows Point in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
