Softball Recap: Maypearl Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Maypearl can now relate to. They lost 12-6 to the West Trojans on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Bailey Short was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elaine Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Maypearl's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-16-2. As for West, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-16-1 record this season.

Maypearl does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West, they will square off against Lexington on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight.
