Softball Game Preview: Willits Wolverines vs. Credo Gryphon

The Willits Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the Credo Gryphon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Willits will be strutting in after a victory while Credo will be coming in after a defeat.

Willits played against Tomales on Friday and won via forfeit.

Credo came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of San Rafael by a score of 13-11 on Friday. The Gryphon have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aliana Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Harper Malone was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

The win was the third in a row for Willits, bringing their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Credo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Willits got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Credo by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
