Basketball Game Preview: Pikes Peak Christian Eagles vs. South Park Burros

Having just played yesterday, the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the South Park Burros at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Pikes Peak Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.

Pikes Peak Christian fought the good fight in their overtime match against Thomas MacLaren School on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 70-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (61), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Pikes Peak Christian might have lost, but man, Eddie Harmon was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 35 points and 17 boards. The game was Harmon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Matthew Crocfer was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Pikes Peak Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, South Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against Center, falling 61-13.

Pikes Peak Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.33 points. As for South Park, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Pikes Peak Christian against South Park when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 90-55 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pikes Peak Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
