Preview: Brockton Warriors vs. Culbertson Cowboys
Brockton is 1-9 against Culbertson since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brockton's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end back in December of 2023. They came out on top against Lambert/Richey by a score of 53-45. The win was just what Brockton needed coming off of a 90-53 defeat in their prior matchup.
Even though Culbertson has not done well against Froid/Medicine Lake recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Culbertson came out on top in a nail-biter against Froid/Medicine Lake and snuck past 45-43.
Culbertson can attribute much of their success to Gavin Deen, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Deen also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridger Salvevold, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory got Brockton back to even at 1-1. As for Culbertson, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
