Basketball Recap: Kouts Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kouts walked away with it. They snuck past the Westville Blackhawks with a 66-61 victory on Friday. Given the Mustangs & Fillies' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Blackhawks are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Westville lost, don't look at Brian Jackson. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field to rack up 23 points. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 21 games he's played. Dillon Walpole was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 19 points.

The win (which was Kouts' third in a row) raised their record to 21-4. As for Westville, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-10.

Kouts has already played their next contest, a 61-52 victory against Washington Township on the 8th. Westville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
