Baseball Game Preview: St. Mary's Hawks vs. Akron-Westfield Westerners

St. Mary is 9-1 against Akron-Westfield since July of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Westerners at 5:30 p.m. St. Mary's is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 16 games.

St. Mary's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against George-Little Rock as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Hawks have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Akron-Westfield came up short against Hinton on Monday and fell 5-2.

St. Mary's pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Akron-Westfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
