            Softball Recap: Anthem Prep Eagles vs. Bagdad Sultans        
        
		
        
        
            Anthem Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bagdad Sultans. The Eagles were not able to make up for their  loss to the Sultans from their previous meeting  back in March of 2024.
 Bailey McCabe put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 13 batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned  (and eight unearned) runs off   two  hits. McCabe was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  home run, two  stolen bases,  and two  RBI. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Addison Evjen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Rhyan Cantelme, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Anthem Prep now  has a losing record of 4-5. As for Bagdad, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
 Coming up, Anthem Prep will square off against Sequoia Pathway Academy at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Bagdad, they will venture away from home to  face off against Mogollon  at 12:00  p.m.  on Friday.
