Volleyball Recap: Avenal Has No Trouble Against Firebaugh + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coalinga, Avenal was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Firebaugh Eagles. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

While Avenal won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-16, 25-23.

Avenal had a senior duo take command as Guadalupe Santillan had nine kills, four digs, four blocks, and four aces and Yasmin Garcilazo had nine aces and three digs. Those nine aces set a new season-high mark for Garcilazo.

Avenal was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 25 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Avenal's record is now 14-12-2. As for Firebaugh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
