Volleyball Recap: Neuse Charter Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Neuse Charter managed to slip by East Wake Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars came up short against the Eagles on Thursday, falling 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-21.

McKenzie Ward paced Neuse Charter's offense, picking up eight kills. Ward got some help from Layla Johnson and her 12 assists.

Leading East Wake Academy to victory were Emerson Morris and Avery Schmidt. Morris had seven digs, six kills, five aces, and three blocks, while Schmidt had nine digs and two aces. That's the most aces Morris has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was McKenley Fitts, who had nine kills, three digs, and two aces.

Neuse Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6. As for East Wake Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Neuse Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Roxboro Community on the 15th. As for East Wake Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Triangle Math & Science on the 15th.
