The Howland Tigers will square off against the Ursuline Fighting Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Howland will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Howland's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Columbiana as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Sam Gryzelewski looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Luca Fronzaglio was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Howland is 10-2 when Fronzaglio posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Deacon Mock was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Howland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ursuline, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past West Branch 2-1.
Anthony Triveri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ursuline's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Kosovan, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Ursuline has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Howland, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9.
Howland was able to grind out a solid win over Ursuline when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
