Basketball Recap: East Mecklenburg Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

East Mecklenburg entered their game against Butler on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The East Mecklenburg Eagles fell just short of the Butler Bulldogs by a score of 40-37. The match was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

East Mecklenburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nixon Wright, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Buzzard, who posted six points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Keys, who had ten points. The dominant performance gave Keys a new career-high in points. Reece Starnes was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

East Mecklenburg's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. As for Butler, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

East Mecklenburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-47 defeat against Weddington on the 7th. As for Butler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-56 loss against Rocky River on the 7th.
