Softball Recap: Brimfield Extends Winning Streak to 13

Brimfield came tearing into Wednesday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Illini West Chargers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Schyer Meinders's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brimfield got a massive performance out of Kendyl Binder, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Pryzbylo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Brimfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illini West only posted a batting average of .043.

Brimfield's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Illini West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
