Basketball Game Preview: Waynesboro Little Giants vs. Fort Defiance Indians

The Waynesboro Little Giants will venture away from home to face off against the Fort Defiance Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Waynesboro was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to East Rockingham. While losing is never fun, the Little Giants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while the Eagles are ranked 151st).

Meanwhile, Fort Defiance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 82-62 to Wilson Memorial. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Indians still had to take the loss.

Waynesboro has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Fort Defiance, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Waynesboro came up short against Fort Defiance in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 91-80. Can Waynesboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
