Preview: Jasper Eagles vs. Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers
Jasper is 1-6 against Jefferson Independent Day since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jasper Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Jasper came up short against Lockwood and fell 48-35. While losing is never fun, Jasper can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Lockwood is ranked 90th).
Meanwhile, Jefferson Independent Day's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Lockwood on the road and fell 59-19. Jefferson Independent Day was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-5.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: Jaxx Wisdom scored five points.
Jasper's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. As for Jefferson Independent Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Jasper came up short against Jefferson Independent Day when the teams last played back in January, falling 71-59. Can Jasper avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
