Football Recap: Mathews Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Mathews unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Cumberland Dukes and fell 46-0.

Cumberland's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Azzari Patterson, who rushed for 94 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Neyo Hill was another major influence, as he rushed for 62 yards and ran in a TD.

Mathews didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-0 defeat against Colonial Beach on the 5th. As for Cumberland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 32-16 victory against William Campbell on the 5th.
