Softball Game Preview: Evangel Christian Lightning vs. Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars

The Evangel Christian Lightning will square off against the Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Evangel Christian sitting on six straight victories and Crenshaw Christian Academy on nine (dating back to last season).

Evangel Christian barely beat Tuscaloosa Home Educators the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lightning put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Raylee Evans was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Cranford, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.

Evangel Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Crenshaw Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for two weeks ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Dale Academy, sneaking past 7-6.

Evangel Christian's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Crenshaw Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
