Softball Recap: Edinburgh's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Edinburgh dropped their record down to 14-9 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Southwestern Rebels by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Lancers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kenna Streeval was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Streeval wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chole Hancock, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Southwestern, they now have a winning record of 8-7. The victory was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

On Southwestern's side, Chloey Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lilly Fox, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

Coming up, Edinburgh will face off against Center Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwestern, they will square off against Milan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
