            Softball Recap: Holmes Aces vs. Bertie Falcons        
        
		
        
        
            Holmes never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Bertie Falcons 15-0. The Aces haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive  win against them.
 Mia Hoffer was a  major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in March.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Morgan Nixon, who  got on base  in all three of her plate appearances with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI. Those  two  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Gabrielle Provencher, who  went 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI.
 Holmes was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .471. They are  a perfect 5-0 when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The  victory  got Holmes back to even at 9-9. As for Bertie, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record  this season.
 Holmes will look to defend their home field  on Tuesday against Hertford County  at 5:00  p.m. The Aces are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on  a  13-game losing streak. As for Bertie, they will challenge Nash Central at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.6  runs per game this season.
