Basketball Recap: Floyd County Finds Playoff Glory Versus Nelson County

It's playoff time, and Floyd County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They managed a 73-68 victory over the Nelson County Governors on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Buffaloes as they're now sitting on four straight.

Several Governors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryce Giles, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Giles is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 16 games he's played. Aiden Carter was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and six boards.

Floyd County pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Nelson County, with the loss, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-5.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Floyd County will welcome Virginia High at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Virginia High knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Floyd County likes a good challenge. As for Nelson County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Graham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nelson County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.7 points per game this season.
