Baseball Recap: Como-Pickton Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Como-Pickton won against Hawkins last Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Big Sandy Wildcats by a score of 11-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

DANE OUD was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Como-Pickton's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't). OUD was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on OTTO SELF, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Como-Pickton is 3-1 when SELF posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. BENJAMIN BREWER was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Como-Pickton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Big Sandy, they moved to 5-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Como-Pickton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
