Basketball Recap: Archbishop Molloy Comes Up Short

Archbishop Molloy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Holy Cross on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holy Cross Knights. The defeat leaves the Stanners without a win on the season.

Holy Cross was led to victory by Mona Okorie and Nafi Balde. Okorie dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards, while Balde dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Okorie is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 39 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jeeanna Pierantoni, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Archbishop Molloy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Holy Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-12 record this season.

Archbishop Molloy will square off against St. John's Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Cross, they will face off against Ursuline at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
