Benjamin Franklin hadn't done well against Northwest Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Chargers had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 3-2. The game was the first time the Chargers have beaten the Crusaders on their field since February 29, 2020.

Talan Speir made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Speir wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jovanni Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Benjamin Franklin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Northwest Christian, they moved to 15-5 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Benjamin Franklin will be taking part in a tournament against Santa Cruz Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dust Devils have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Northwest Christian, they will face off against ALA - Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
