Soccer Game Preview: Southwestern Randolph vs. Wheatmore

The Southwestern Randolph Cougars will square off against the Wheatmore Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Southwestern Randolph is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Eastern Randolph get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Monday. Southwestern Randolph haven't had any issues with Eastern Randolph recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Ashlynn Harbor and Alaina Kidd scored all seven of Southwestern Randolph's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Wheatmore entered their tilt with Eastern Randolph on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering Wheatmore have won five matchups by more than four goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Wheatmore's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those three games. As for Southwestern Randolph, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-7.

Southwestern Randolph might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Wheatmore in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Southwestern Randolph avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
