Basketball Game Preview: Prospect Knights vs. Stevenson Patriots

The Prospect Knights will challenge the Stevenson Patriots at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Prospect sitting on three straight wins and Stevenson on four.

Prospect is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Hoffman Estates: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Prospect blew Hoffman Estates out of the water with a 73-18 final score. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Angelina Falls and Allison Linke were among the main playmakers for Prospect as the former went 5 for 6 en route to 14 points and the latter posted nine points in addition to five assists and five steals. Falls continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Carroll, who put up 14 points.

Prospect smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Stevenson posted their biggest victory since January 14th on Thursday. Everything went their way against York as Stevenson made off with a 44-23 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.

Prospect's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points over those games. As for Stevenson, their win bumped their record up to 18-10.

Prospect strolled past Stevenson in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 73-58. Will Prospect repeat their success, or does Stevenson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
