Preview: Edgewood Bulldogs vs. Lone Oak Buffaloes
Edgewood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Lone Oak Buffaloes at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Lone Oak took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Edgewood, who comes in off a win.
Edgewood stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 52-21 win over Prairiland. Given Edgewood's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Prairiland is ranked 863rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edgewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blair McPherson, who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Paul, who scored 12 points.
Lone Oak suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 66-20 defeat at the hands of Commerce. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lone Oak in their matchups with Commerce: they've now lost four in a row.
Edgewood pushed their record up to 21-8 with that win, which was their 20th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Lone Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-18.
Everything came up roses for Edgewood against Lone Oak when the teams last played on January 2nd as the squad secured a 54-23 win. With Edgewood ahead 30-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
