Basketball Recap: Makenna Mccloud's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vassar over Cass City

Vassar lost against Cass City back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vassar Vulcans lost to the Cass City Red Hawks on the road by a 51-34 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vulcans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 71st).

Vassar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Makenna McCloud, who posted eight points. What's more, McCloud also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

Vassar's defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Cass City, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

While Vassar had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
