Mainland is 2-8 against Atlantic since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mainland Buccaneers will look to defend their home field against the Atlantic Sharks at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mainland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Wekiva on Tuesday as Mainland made off with a 24-2 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Buccaneers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jeremiah Peach made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Mainland's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Peach was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Mateo Bond was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Trevor Pittman, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Mainland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Atlantic entered their tilt with Matanzas on Tuesday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over the Pirates. With that win, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Josiah Perez, who scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Cronin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Atlantic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Mainland, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mainland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Atlantic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
