Softball Game Preview: Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers vs. Charlotte Christian Knights

Charlotte Country Day School is 2-8 against Charlotte Christian since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Buccaneers will welcome the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Charlotte Country Day School has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Charlotte Country Day School headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Durham Academy let them put that streak behind them. Gordon went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI, while Little scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those five RBI gave Gordon a new career-high. Anna Poore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Charlotte Country Day School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Christian has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.89 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came up short against Covenant Day, falling 10-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Charlotte Country Day School's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Charlotte Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Charlotte Country Day School has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
