Basketball Game Preview: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Camp Point Central Panthers

The Mendon Unity Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Camp Point Central Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mendon Unity is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Brown County on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs had to suffer through a 60-28 loss at the hands of the Hornets. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, Camp Point Central managed to keep up with Hamilton/Warsaw until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Panthers lost 72-50 to the Titans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Titans are ranked 30th).

Camp Point Central's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Mendon Unity, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.

Mendon Unity strolled past Camp Point Central in their previous matchup on Wednesday by a score of 51-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
