If Chattanooga Christian beats South Pittsburg with eight runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Chattanooga Christian walked away with an 8-4 victory over Knoxville Catholic on Monday. While the Chargers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Owen Brown and Devin Dobson did most of the damage at the plate: Brown scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Dobson got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Blade Paty, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Chattanooga Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, South Pittsburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Polk County by a score of 5-4.
Bailey Fults spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alex Phillips was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Tanner Blevins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.
Chattanooga Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for South Pittsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Chattanooga Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. Chattanooga Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Pittsburg, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chattanooga Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Chattanooga Christian skirted past South Pittsburg 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Chattanooga Christian repeat their success, or does South Pittsburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
