Alpaugh is 0-9 against Laton since September of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Buffalos will venture away from home to challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
On Friday, Alpaugh made easy work of Mojave and carried off a 26-6 win. The Buffalos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 20 points or more this season.
Joshua Banuelos had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 120 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Alpaugh was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 195 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Alpaugh's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Adrian Alfaro and David Loera, who racked up four sacks between them. Alfaro is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least ten every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laton). They breezed past Tehillah Christian Academy to the tune of 74-0 on Friday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 65-point advantage.
Laton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Jovanni Lopez was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself. Another thorn in Tehillah Christian Academy's side was Lopez, who made two total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Alpaugh's record is now 5-0. As for Laton, their record now sits at an identical 5-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Alpaugh has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 271 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Laton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 199 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Alpaugh was taken down by Laton 44-12 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Buffalos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
