Recap: Union Cougars vs. Grantsville Cowboys
The Union Cougars suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Grantsville on the road and fell 72-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union in their matchups with Grantsville: they've now lost six in a row.
Baylee Lowder was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds for Grantsville. Lowder is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Allred, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Union dropped their record down to 4-15 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Grantsville, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Union on the road again on Tuesday and play against Ben Lomond at 5:15 p.m. on January 30th. Ben Lomond has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Grantsville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Morgan at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Morgan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
