Baseball Game Preview: Alamo Heights Mules vs. Tivy Antlers

The Alamo Heights Mules are taking a road trip to challenge the Tivy Antlers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alamo Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Alamo Heights beat Wagner 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mules.

Yul Salaburu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunt Conger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Tivy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boerne-Champion.

Sam Barber was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tivy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Bloomer, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Alamo Heights' win bumped their record up to 10-17-1. As for Tivy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-19.

Alamo Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against Tivy in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mules since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
