Softball Recap: Stansbury Stallions vs. Tooele Buffaloes

Stansbury has not done well against Tooele recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Stansbury Stallions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tooele Buffaloes and snuck past 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Stansbury.

Hadley Barrett was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Merritt, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

On Tooele's side, Allie Anderson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Anderson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rose Kimball, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Emily Sheppard was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Stansbury has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Tooele, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Stansbury will head out on the road to challenge West at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tooele, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bingham at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bingham's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Tooele's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
