Softball Recap: North Pemiscot Mustangs vs. Holcomb Hornets

North Pemiscot had lost nine straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it ten. They came up short against the Holcomb Hornets, falling 24-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-2 back in April.

As for Holcomb, their record now sits at 13-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Holcomb's part, Ava Gurley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gurley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Holcomb got a massive performance out of Ella Jane Lemings, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Lemings a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chaytlin Hardcastle, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

As of now, neither North Pemiscot nor Holcomb have any future games scheduled.
