Soccer Game Preview: Oak Hall vs. Newberry

Oak Hall and Newberry are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but likely not for long. The Oak Hall Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Newberry Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Hall is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.1 goals per game this season.

Back in December of 2024, Oak Hall beat Redeemer Christian 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

They hit Redeemer Christian with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Thomas Gibson (2), Cooper Coleman, Bear Wooley, and Yuyu Ynigo.

Meanwhile, Newberry entered their contest against Keystone Heights on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Newberry fell just short of Keystone Heights by a score of 4-3. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Newberry's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3-1. As for Oak Hall, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Everything went Oak Hall's way against Newberry when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as Oak Hall made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Hall since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
